Footprints lead across the foreground and into a landscape shaped almost entirely by wind. Beyond them, the dunes rise in layers of light and shadow beneath a turbulent sky. The tracks give the scene a brief human scale, but against the constantly shifting sand they also feel temporary.
Working in monochrome reduces the landscape to what first drew me to it: the texture of the sand, the sweeping forms of the dunes, the deep shadows along their edges, and the movement of the clouds above.
