This photograph has been part of my life for more than thirty years. Originally photographed on 35mm film in the 1980s, the exposure pushed close to what the film of the time could give me. What remained was a quiet end-of-day scene: an old boat resting beside still water, surrounded by deep greens and reflected trees.
In 1996, I revisited the photograph digitally, using an early watercolor treatment in Photoshop 4. The first large version I lived with was printed on a 36-inch Design Winder inkjet printer—very early technology compared with what is available today.
Decades later, I still return to this image for the same reason I kept it on my own wall for so long. There is nowhere that needs to be reached and nothing that needs to happen. The boat can stay where it is. The water can remain still.
Today I print No Need to Hurry using archival Epson inks on Epson Legacy Etching paper, whose texture suits the watercolor-like character of the image particularly well.
Available in three sizes. Printed on Epson Legacy Etching fine-art paper using archival inks, and personally printed and signed by the photographer.
Bare prints include a border for handling and framing. Listed sizes refer to the actual printed image area, not the paper dimensions.
